Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The candidate will work as part of development teams – either to develop the product for the Higher Education industry; as part of deployment teams at specific universities; or performing production support activities.   The resource will work under moderate supervision to provide technical expertise in the design and development as well as testing and implementation of technologies at various Universities across the country.   Collaborates with clients and staff to develop enterprise applications and integration solutions that adhere to accepted standards and the latest open source specifications.  Works at a highly technical level to provide enterprise development expertise and leadership in the enhancement and support of the solutions.

Qualifications A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or related information technology field, at least three years of professional experience developing J2EE web applications, expert knowledge of JSP, XML, Spring, common design patterns and a relational DBMS, experience using common apache frameworks for Java development, and excellent oral and written communications skills are required.

Background must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively as a member of a team within a complex, dynamic environment.
• Experience with enterprise scale application development, Knowledge and experience of open source projects, technologies and tools
• Experience building loosely-coupled, service-oriented distributed systems
• Languages/Platforms/Frameworks: Java/JEE, Struts, MVC, JSP, Servlets, Spring, JPA, Hibernate, etc)
• Cross-cutting standards: XML/XSL/XSD, X/HTML, web services (SOAP/WSDL, REST)
• Web Development: AJAX, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Middleware: Apache web server, Tomcat, Jetty
• Database solutions: Oracle, MySQL, Derby
• Testing: experience with continuous integration and writing unit tests
• Object-oriented analysis and design: UML, Model Driven Architecture, Design Patterns
• Operating Systems: Unix (Solaris, Linux), Windows
• IDEs and Development Tools: Eclipse (and a host of plug-ins), Subversion, Ant, Maven

Desirable Certifications
• Sun Certified JAVA Programmer (SCJP).
• Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD).
• Sun Certified Developer of Java Web Services (SCDJWS).
